Using monetary units as the proxy for common units risks reinforcement of the paradigm that everything comes down to money. While it may function successfully as a valuation unit, it risks miscommunication about the ideals of sustainability from a moral and ethical perspective. Within the triple bottom line (TBL), financial bottom lines are just one - something to consider is whether we can find an alternative common unit that does not imply one of the TBLs permeating the others pervasively.
